JOB PURPOSE
The TCM Practitioner is responsible for delivering and developing high-quality Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) experiences for BodyHoliday guests. The role provides specialist consultations and treatments in TCM, Acupuncture and Acupressure, while contributing to complementary holistic wellness programming, educational experiences, retreats and resort activities.
The Practitioner works collaboratively with the wider Health & Wellbeing team to understand individual guest wellness goals, provide appropriate recommendations and cross-referrals, enhance the overall guest journey and contribute to departmental revenue and guest retention.
The successful candidate will possess a recognized specialist qualification in Traditional Chinese Medicine, with substantial professional training and experience in TCM. Qualifications such as Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (DACM/DAcCHM), Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (DTCM), or an equivalent internationally recognized TCM qualification are required.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Traditional Chinese Medicine & Wellness Services
- Deliver professional Traditional Chinese Medicine consultations and treatments, including Acupuncture and Acupressure, within the practitioner’s professional scope of practice.
- Design, host and present TCM and complementary holistic wellness sessions, workshops and experiences.
- Deliver paid one-on-one TCM consultations and treatments as part of the resort’s wellness programmes, journeys and retreats.
- Assess guest wellness needs and provide appropriate recommendations consistent with professional standards and scope of practice.
- Cross-refer guests to appropriate wellness, fitness, spa and other resort experiences to support their individual wellbeing goals.
- Provide complimentary TCM and holistic wellness sessions for approved sales and marketing initiatives, promotional activities and guest recovery.
- Deliver educational talks, demonstrations and awareness sessions on TCM, Acupuncture, Acupressure and complementary wellness practices for guests, marketing purposes and team member induction.
- Facilitate regular holistic wellness awareness workshops.
- Maintain current knowledge of TCM developments, wellness trends and industry best practices.
Guest Experience & Care
- Build genuine and professional relationships with guests and colleagues, creating personalized and memorable wellness experiences.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the guest journey through appropriate wellness recommendations and cross-referrals.
- Respond to guest questions, concerns and feedback promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with fellow practitioners, Wellness Experience Leaders and other resort departments to ensure seamless guest care.
- Participate in weekly practitioner meetings and other departmental meetings as required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of TCM services, programmes and guest experiences.
Business Development & Revenue
- Conduct educational sessions and personal consultations that create awareness of TCM and encourage bookings of paid one-on-one experiences.
- Proactively support the achievement of individual and departmental revenue targets.
- Liaise with Pre-Arrival Concierge Services, Activities Ambassadors and other relevant departments to maximize awareness, scheduling and booking of TCM experiences.
- Develop and facilitate innovative TCM and holistic wellness activities, programmes, retreats and concepts.
- Identify opportunities to increase guest participation, repeat bookings and engagement with wellness services.
- Support sales and marketing initiatives through demonstrations, promotional experiences, guest engagement and wellness education.
Team Development & Knowledge Sharing
- Share specialist TCM knowledge and expertise with fellow practitioners and relevant team members.
- Contribute to team member induction and brand education through presentations, demonstrations and practical learning experiences.
- Support the maintenance of high professional standards across TCM and complementary wellness services.
- Identify relevant training and development opportunities and remain current with developments within the TCM and wellness industry.
Facilities, Safety & Administration
- Maintain a clean, safe, professional and welcoming treatment and wellness environment.
- Ensure equipment, treatment areas and supplies are properly maintained and available for service delivery.
- Monitor stock levels and communicate replenishment, maintenance or repair requirements promptly.
- Complete all required administrative documentation accurately and on time, including schedules, treatment records, incident reports and other departmental documentation.
- Comply with all resort policies, health and safety requirements, professional standards and applicable regulations.
- Maintain all required professional certifications, licenses and continuing education.
Resort & Wellness Ambassador
- Represent BodyHoliday as a knowledgeable and passionate Holistic Wellness Ambassador.
- Participate in approved public relations, community social responsibility, promotional and resort events.
- Support Leader’s Cocktail Parties and other guest engagement opportunities as required.
- Demonstrate the BodyHoliday philosophy of nourishing the mind, body and spirit through every guest interaction.
- Contribute to the resort’s reputation as a leading global wellness destination.
Requirements
MINIMUM CORE QUALIFICATIONS
- Recognized specialist qualification in Traditional Chinese Medicine, such as:Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (DACM/DAcCHM);
- Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (DTCM); or
- An equivalent internationally recognized TCM qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of professional TCM practice experience, preferably within a luxury resort, wellness centre, spa, clinic or other high-touch wellness environment.
- Demonstrated professional expertise in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, with strong Acupressure knowledge and Chinese Herbal Medicine experience considered an asset.
- Strong preference for candidates with formal TCM training and/or professional practice experience in the People’s Republic of China or another established TCM training environment.
- Ability to confidently deliver at least 2–3 complementary wellness modalities, such as Acupressure, Naturopathy, Yoga, Nutrition or other recognized holistic practices.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and guest engagement skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to confidently promote and convert wellness experiences.
- Warm, professional and culturally sensitive approach to guest care.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary wellness team.
- Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and varied shifts according to business requirements.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES
- Experience within a luxury or internationally recognized wellness environment.
- Experience developing or facilitating wellness retreats, programmes, workshops or educational experiences.
- Experience delivering TCM educational presentations or guest-facing wellness talks.
- Strong knowledge of current global wellness trends and emerging TCM practices.
- Mandarin and English language proficiency would be an asset.
- Experience working with an international clientele in a luxury hospitality or wellness environment.
